Seattle has “Driving Under the Influence Squad”

Unless you have had the misfortune of being pulled over by one, most people didn’t realize Seattle Police has a squad of officers dedicated to looking for impaired drivers. These officers received additional training such as being trained and qualified as Drug Recognition Experts or “DRE’s.” Members of the DUI squad may detect an impaired driver by simply enforcing traffic laws on their own, responding to collisions, or answering a request by a patrol officer who stops a driver they suspect might be impaired by alcohol and/or other drugs.
