Seattle "Weeding" Out Illegal Marijuana Sales

Posted Tuesday, January 19, 2016 by Andrew Charles Huff

Seattle is planning to crack down on unlicensed marijuana businesses that are estimated to make up around 28% of the entire market. Seattle City Attorney Pete Holmes plans to zero in on pot delivery services that are even advertised in local publications. These services are all illegal.

Holmes plans to ask the state legislature to approve a pilot program for legal marijuana delivery in Seattle that, he says, will be a benefit to people with mobility issues and improve road safety.

Currently, 577 producer/processors and 228 retailers have been licensed by the state and currently produce around $65 million in taxes.
