Poulsbo Police-No Arrest of Sheriff’s Deputy Suspected of DUI

Poulsbo police are taking heat for failing to arrest a Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office sergeant when he allegedly drove home from a theater intoxicated in October. The sergeant admitted to a Poulsbo officer on video that he drove home drunk on Oct. 16, 2015. However, he has not been charged with a crime.
A police body camera video shows a Poulsbo police officer confronting the sergeant while he was sitting in his personal vehicle outside a movie theater. The officer smelled alcohol and offered the sergeant a ride home, which he refused. Poulsbo Police reported that the officer did not know the allegedly impaired deputy was a law enforcement officer and that officers routinely offer impaired drivers a ride home rather than let them sit in their vehicle.
Kitsap County prosecutors say there is not enough evidence to prosecute, saying it wasn’t clear on the video that admitted to driving drunk and that he was not advised of his rights.
