Federal prosecutors have charged a former Alaska Airlines pilot with flying a plane from Oregon to California with an alleged blood alcohol level between 0.134 percent and 0.142. After landing in California, the pilot was subjected to a random drug test that showed the blood alcohol level. The Newport Beach, California pilot was then arrested and charged with a felony count of operating a common carrier while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Crew members say they didn’t see the pilot drink any alcohol during the flight, and didn’t smell alcohol on his breath.
