Seattle Making Things Easier for Marijuana Stores

The Seattle City Council is creating opportunities for marijuana stores to open in the city…by adding space. One ordinance being considered would add land eligible for legal marijuana businesses by reducing the required distances between pot shops. Under the proposal, marijuana shops and greenhouses would still have to stay 1,000 feet, roughly 3-4 blocks, from schools. But the distance from libraries, parks and child care facilities would drop to 500 feet, roughly 1-2 blocks. The action would add nearly 40 percent to the land available for marijuana businesses.
